1. Who can benefit from this program?
Many are homebound and or isolated due to disabilities or illness. Visiting and interacting with individuals helps to maintain the mental, physical and spiritual health of a person.
2. Who qualifies for Caring Connections services?
- Vulnerable adults 60 years of age or older
- Persons with disabilities 18 years of age or older
- Anyone willing to participate in the Caring Connections program
- No financial requirements or limitations
3. Is there a fee for Caring Connections services?
No. All services are free of charge, although donations are gladly accepted. In some instances, Caring Connections may also provide referrals and/or payment for selected services, such as installation of grab bars or respite care. In general, clients pay for most direct services.

4. How are services delivered?
Volunteers visits in the home or by telephone.

5. Does Caring Connections provide in-home help?
No. Caring Connections does not provide in-home support. The friendly visitor volunteer or Coordinator of Volunteers will give referrals to home care resources in the community.

6. Does Caring Connections provide home delivered meals?
No. Caring Connections does not have a meal program. The Coordinator of Volunteers will refer the client/friend to the appropriate meal program in their area.

7. How does one receive help from Caring Connections?
Call Caring Connections at (714) 479-0107. Information will be taken over the telephone and eligibility will be determined. The individual needing a visitor will then be matched to a Caring Connections trained friendly visitor volunteer who will make contact and begin scheduling home visits, accommodating both the individual who needs a visitor (client/friend) and the volunteer’s schedules.

8. Are there Caring Connections programs in other areas of California?
Yes. There are friendly visitor programs throughout the state but they all have different names. Call the Eldercare Locator Line at (800) 677-1116 to locate other programs in a specific area.

9. Does Caring Connections have information on long-term care planning?
Yes. If one desires to know about available resources, Caring Connections can provide resources for other living options through our Linkages Program at the Council on Aging—Orange County.
10. How long does an individual remain part of the Caring Connections program?
Individuals remain part of the Caring Connections program as long as they have a need for a friendly visitor and remain living independently within Orange County.
