Council Launches a New Continuing Education Initiative for LTC Professionals
The Council on Aging-Orange County is poised to become the premier provider of continuing education units to aging services professionals in Orange County. COA plans to sponsor monthly educational programs on a wide variety of topics, which will be particularly pertinent to staff and administrators of long-term care facilities. These seminars will provide continuing education units for the following licenses: LCSW, MFT, RN, NHAP and RCFE. Also, this organization follows the CE guidelines specified in the California Board of Accountancy Regulations so CE may be available.
Our first presentation, scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 2009, is entitled: This program, which will provide six continuing education units, will tackle the interesting and challenging subject of sexual expression by residents of long-term care facilities. We will address staff and family reactions to residents’ sexual expression, provide tips on dealing with inappropriate expressions of sexuality and deal with the complexities presented by dementia. The class will also provide guidelines for developing facility policies on residents’ sexual expression.
